Laser Treatments FAQ
What is laser treatment and how does it work?
The word ‘laser’ is derived from an acronym light amplified and stimulated by emissions of radiation. After an initial consultation to gauge your particular skin type, the practitioner will select an appropriate wavelength for the laser. It will then emit a light sympathetic to this.
The laser will work in different ways depending on what it is being used to treat. For example, in the case of hair removal, the laser will target the pigment within the root of the individual hair. To treat brown spots or pigmentation, an alternative wavelength is selected, which in turn targets melanin in the skin.
How many sessions will I need?
As laser treatment is used for such a variety of purposes, it is very difficult to provide a general timescale. For example, for tattoo removal, which is a lengthier process than hair removal, can take up to twenty sessions, depending upon the intricacy and detail of the tattoo. Hair removal generally requires between four and six sessions. For laser skin resurfacing, usually only one treatment is needed, although a second may be recommended for severe skin problems.
Do I need to take any precautions after laser treatment?
It is recommended that you keep treated areas out of direct sunlight until completely healed. Certain laser procedures require a longer sun-free period, but you will be advised of this during your personal consultation. Cindy Knight Clinic is happy to recommend gentle and effective products to use on your skin after treatments, to help the healing process and encourage healthy, clear skin.

I am writing to thank you very much for removing my mole on my face. As you know, the mole was affecting my confidence greatly, and after having a consultation with you I decided to go ahead with the procedure.
From the moment I telephoned your Clinic to discuss mole removal and to the end of the treatment, I found the whole experience professional, friendly, pain free and relaxed.
Most important of all, you gave me my confidence back. Thank you very much.
