Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion Derma-Genesis is a professional skin system used only in accredited clinics by certified medical professionals. The system is an excellent solution to problem skin and can provide astonishing results after a course of treatments.
Microdermabrasion is a particle skin resurfacing procedure, and utilizes tiny particles to shed damaged layers of skin and even skin tone. This procedure is revolutionary, safe and painless and the average session takes less than 30 minutes, earning its reputation as a true lunchtime peel.
After a thorough skin consultation, we will determine the condition of your skin, define which areas you would like treated and determine exactly what your desired outcome is. Microdermabrasion is ideal for those suffering from acne, have scarring from past spots, or have sun damaged skin.
Many people notice a difference in their skin’s appearance after the very first treatment, and after the recommended course of treatments, you will be left with a glowing, smooth, even and bright complexion. Microdermabrasion can also be an ideal one-off treat for your skin before a special event or occasion.

Microdermabrasion FAQ
What is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is an aesthetic procedure where the skin is exfoliated mechanically. Focused columns of fine, sterile, inert aluminum oxide crystals are targeted at the outer layer of the skin, which removes cells of the skin’s outermost layer. The crystal and skin cells are vacuumed off of the skin by the unit simultaneously.
How does microdermabrasion work?
A fine jet of medical-grade aluminium oxide crystals are applied to the skin gently via a hand piece of the main unit. When the crystals make contact with the skin’s surface, the dead outer layer of skin is removed. The vacuum pressure of the system removes the dead skin and crystals at the same time, and transport them safely to the unit’s waste container. Sessions usually comprise of around 45 minutes each.
How many sessions will I need?
This will be determined in your initial consultation. The amount of sessions required depends on your skin type and the area being treated. Generally, a full course of microdermabrasion will consist of approximately six sessions, at least a week apart.
What skin complaints does microdermabrasion treat?
Microdermabrasion offers a solution to a wide variety of skin complaints including acne, acne scarring, congested and spotty skin, enlarged pores, blackheads, dull skin, chicken pox scars, fine lines, wrinkles, brown spots or pigmentation.
Can any type of skin be treated by microdermabrasion?
Yes, regardless of age or skin colour. Almost any area of the skin can be treated with microdermabrasion, including the face and neck, elbows, knees, hands, feet, and shoulders. Microdermabrasion is also a useful treatment for stretch marks on the abdomen or hips.
Are there any side effects?
Very few. Microdermabrasion does not use chemical acids, as other peels do, and consequently it is much easier to predict results. The desired result can also be accomplished in gradual stages, and eliminates any soreness or redness or recovery time. Most people see results after their very first session of microdermabrasion. The treatment is safe and has been used in the US for over 15 years. It is virtually painless and skin will suffer from minimal trauma.

I am 49 years old and I started visiting Cindy Knight about a year and a half ago, as the skin on my face was suffering from the effects of ageing and sun exposure. I had tried lots of other beauty salons and treatments, none of which made any difference. Cindy suggested microdermabrasion to me, a process which removes dead skin.
To date, I have had more than eight sessions, and have seen a significant difference in my skin. Further to this and once she had assessed my skin type, Cindy recommended a chemical peel - a stronger treatment which results in red and sore skin for about a week, but brilliant results after this. These types of peels must be carried out by a professional who is sure of what they are doing.
With Cindy's nursing skills and qualifications, I always feel in completely safe hands. I will be a regular of Cindy's for many years to come.
